Our immigrant neighbors are integral to Virginia’s communities and economy, and move to Virginia for many of the same reasons as people born in other areas of the United States — job opportunities, good schools, and thriving communities. Yet many public policy choices have put up barriers that keep immigrant Virginians from reaching their full potential. Following the lead of immigrant rights organizations, we’ve supported successful efforts to remove immigration-related barriers to lawful driving, health care, and higher education.
TCI will continue that work with partners to make sure everyone — no matter where they are from — is able to fully participate in our communities.
Key priorities
- Work alongside immigrant organizations to identify and remove barriers to critical services such as health coverage
- Provide factual information about the role of immigrants in Virginia’s communities and economy to inform the public conversation
