Medicaid Plays a Critical Role in Every District Across Virginia

People in every legislative district in the state are supported with health care coverage through the Medicaid program. We have updated our analysis of how many people could gain coverage in each district if lawmakers expanded Medicaid to now also include the number of people currently enrolled in our state’s Medicaid program in every district across Virginia. Whether legislators are for expanding the program or not, it’s important to recognize that the Medicaid program already provides essential care to a large portion of their constituencies. Their districts would become healthier and more robust if more people are able to access these services.
